I never expected to feel so sad and so attached to a place, considering I have only been in New Brunswick for a few months—but I was.
My last day of work at J.D Irving, Limited also began Day 1 of our Cross- Canada Tour.
I left work at the usual time, after a few goodbyes and some gifts—it was more than I ever expected.
I ran for the bus, as I was a little late leaving work and I had a bunch of paperwork that I was taking home…but I made it.
When I got home Alex was continuing to load stuff into Jerusalem…who was very, very low.
I rushed inside and changed and we tried to organize what was needed and what needed to go where to make our lives much easier when we were driving.
Work clothes off..sweat pants on…we were ready to finish our rush to get ourselves on the road. We through some pizza and appy’s in the oven to cook so that we could have a snack to eat after and so we finished stuffing Jerusalem with the rest of our belongings…and wow! Was Jerusalem full.
When that was all loaded, and we had sorted what food we wanted to take we jumped into the car—and we were on our way!
It was a bitter-sweet moment leaving Saint John for the last time---but it was definitely time to head home.
Day 1 we were only heading to Moncton for the evening so once we got to Moncton we set up camp and went to bed.
Mid way through the night we were abruptly awoken by an insane windstorm that picked up and was trying to “break our tent” The rest of the evening we slept on and off, in between trying to keep our tent poles stable enough as to not crush us in between.
We did move the tent, to try and use our car as part of a wind block, which sort of worked…but it was still a restless evening.
